Buddhism emphasizes qualities such as compassion, seeking personal development, and taking responsibility for one's actions. In addition to the fact that every Buddhist in Sri Lanka has a large statue at home, most of them also carry a miniature Buddha on the dashboard of their car or tuk tuk. Including us.

“Our” Buddha is hand-carved from mahogany wood in a village near the rock temple of Sigiriya, one of the most magnificent geological formations in all of Sri Lanka. (If you are ever going to Sri Lanka, we definitely recommend climbing the opposite formation called Pidurangala, from which you can enjoy a wonderful view of the aforementioned Sigiriya rock temple.

WHAT IS WISDOM?

Mudra is a symbolic or ritual gesture used in Buddhism. Some mudras are performed using the whole body, but most require only the hand and fingers to perform.

MEANING OF DHYANA MUDRA

With the mudra of meditation, the back of the right hand rests on the upright palm of the other hand and the tips of the thumbs lightly touch. In this way, the hands and fingers form a triangle shape, which is a symbol of spiritual fire. Dhyana mudra was used by yogis  during his concentration, healing and meditation exercises already long before the Buddha. It was the Buddha who used this mudra during his final meditation under the Bodhi tree, where he attained nirvana, or enlightenment.

A Buddha with this mudra should be placed in a library, study room or meditation room.
